Recently I met up with a sweet friend and her babe, who I had the pleasure of photographing as a new born. The setting was one of Austin’s many hidden treasures, a tranquil spot along upper bull creek. I couldn’t help myself and snapped a few shots of this darling duo. I have such a soft spot for mamas and their little ones! Looking forward to seeing this little lady continue to grow.
A friend recently shared with me that God has called her family to start an electric bike company for our area. After a number of events/conversations that were too many to call coincidence (and could only be confirmation), she and her husband took the plunge and purchased a fleet of electric bikes. I went for a spin on one with them a few weeks ago to capture some images for their new business as well as their family. I’d never ridden on one before, and it was so much fun! We took a spin across Mo-Pac outside of the Travis Country neighborhood and down the new pedestrian bridge that crosses the scenic greenbelt. They will be officially open for business this fall, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for their little enterprise!
With their daughter’s first birthday right around the corner, I met this sweet little family to capture some fun images of them together. As a mother of two myself, I certainly have a special place in my heart for one-year-old’s and birthday celebrations!! The shoot of course wasn’t complete with out a cake to mash those precious little hands into. I think it’s safe to say she enjoyed it ;). Happy birthday little lady!
For the last several months I’ve been eyeing Canon’s website to snag one of their refurbished 5D Mark IV cameras. This is the latest of their legendary 5D series that is used by a large majority of professional Canon shooters. While my 6D has provided me with stellar image quality over the last year, I really wanted a better auto focus system (these kiddos move so fast!). Turns out those refurbished cameras are actually new cameras returned from retailers because they don’t have the new c-log added (more of a video feature). What a deal! I finally pulled the trigger, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
ps. Congrats to the Rankin family on their beautiful baby boy!!! Thanks for letting me help capture all this sweetness.
A sweet friend and neighbor of ours recently had her third baby, a little girl she and her husband named Emma. Like our family, their first daugther was called to Heaven far too soon. That sort of loss is so unbearable at the time, but as the months and then years go on, baby-loss mamas are often able to move past the grief and take comfort in knowing their child is still a part of their family, and that they will be reunited in Heaven. I was so happy to hear that after a sweet red-headed son, they were blessed with another little girl. In those somber moments after their loss, it was God’s promise to their family. Praise Him!
My step brother and his wife decided to wait to find out the sex of their second child, so we were all very excited to find out that it was a boy (with a full head of hair!). Here are some favorites from our newborn shoot, which included two very large but gentle giants!
Recently I had the pleasure of photographing one of the tiniest of Texans, sweet baby Annabelle. Her brother Gaines was very excited about the new arrival, and even enthusiastically crashed Dad’s photos by hopping up on his shoulders to admire his baby sister from above! Here are some favorites from our little shoot. Welcome to Texas Annabelle, I have a feeling you’re going to like it here!
There is a long standing tradition in Texas to have your family photos done while our state flower, the bluebonnet, is in full bloom. They blanket hillsides for miles around, and you’ll often see cars pulled over in the best spots getting those precious snaps. Ironically, a little-known fun fact is that rattle snakes also love bluebonnets! Thankfully we didn’t encounter any on our recent mid-day shoot just outside our south austin neighborhood. 😉
I met up with my dear friend and talented baker Angela Cruz last weekend for a little baking extravaganza! Her cookie designs via her business A Cup of Sugar have been delighting eyes and tastebuds in Austin for several years now. Made with a cup sugar and a lot of love, here are some shots from our cookie magic-in-the-making photoshoot!
We celebrated our daughter’s first birthday this weekend with friends, meatballs and guacamole, and of course cupcakes! When it came time for our little lady’s cake, she came ready to smash away! She and her chair were covered in icing when it was over.
