A Little Magic

There is something so special about a couple expecting their first baby.  The excitement, anticipation, and imagination of what is to come is palpable.  I had the pleasure of photographing these two on a warm weekday evening, and magic was in the air!  We were even blessed with some surprise flowers despite the dry summer.

Soon to be Four

I was so excited to hear earlier this year that this sweet little family was expecting a baby girl.  It’s just so fun watching my client-families grow! I can’t wait to see their precious baby in a few months, as well as how big brother handles the new arrival (that one can be tricky!). Here are a few favorites from our mini shoot.  Enjoy!

A Dreamy Setting

I was very excited to meet these two at Sekrit Theater for a maternity shoot a few weeks ago.  This sweet couple absolutely glows with their excitement for the pending birth of their son, and it was such a pleasure to see them again after shooting their birth announcement earlier this year.  This dreamy setting also didn’t disappoint! Here are some favorites from our shoot.

An Unexpected Adventure

Last weekend I met this sweet family at the north-Austin home they moved into a month ago. They’ve been having a blast exploring the nearby trails, so they wanted to capture their family there.  I’d never been to the site before, which can be tricky since I typically need to scout locations ahead of time.  But Dad did an excellent job thinking things through, and he even sent me pictures from his morning hike!  I didn’t realize quite what I was getting into – we literally hoofed it for 45 minutes into the woods!  There were some lovely little nooks along the way, and these kids seemed right at home.  Here are some favorites from our shoot.

A Little Faith

Earlier this year, a sweet mama-to-be reached out to me about a pregnancy announcement shoot.  She wrote about how she’d already lost two babies, and was praying and believing that this would be her “rainbow baby”, which comes after the emotional storm of a loss. Given our own family’s story, I felt privileged to be asked to help them capture this moment in their lives.

I was so excited to hear from her again many weeks later, that they were ready and feeling great for their shoot!  Just entering the second trimester, they’d done genetic screening that showed a healthy baby.  Praise Jesus!!  The joy and love shared between this couple was palpable, as was their confidence that God is in control and has good things planned for them.  I’m grateful that baby-loss families can rely on an infinitely loving God to carry them though both the pain and joy in this life.  And with a healthy baby on the way, there is so much reason for celebration!!

Though She Be But Little, She is Fierce!

“Though she be but little, she is fierce” – William Shakespeare

This adorable little family was a joy to shoot, particularly since they are friends of mine.  This Shakespeare quote came to mind while I was editing their images.  Their daughter’s bold gaze is just mesmerizing!  When I took the last shot below I was afraid the backlight would spoil it, but it turned out to be my favorite from the gallery. Those blue eyes and pale skin, she’s such a beauty isn’t she?!

Ready for His Close Up

I feel very blessed this year for the opportunity to help a number of families with their holiday portraits.  This was my second time to shoot this sweet bunch, and their little guy definitely came ready for his close up!  I can’t believe how much he’s grown up in the few short months since I did his first-birthday shots.

Following a Calling

A friend recently shared with me that God has called her family to start an electric bike company for our area.  After a number of events/conversations that were too many to call coincidence (and could only be confirmation), she and her husband took the plunge and purchased a fleet of electric bikes.  I went for a spin on one with them a few weeks ago to capture some images for their new business as well as their family.  I’d never ridden on one before, and it was so much fun!  We took a spin across Mo-Pac outside of the Travis Country neighborhood and down the new pedestrian bridge that crosses the scenic greenbelt.  They will be officially open for business this fall, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for their little enterprise!
