Earlier this year, a sweet mama-to-be reached out to me about a pregnancy announcement shoot. She wrote about how she’d already lost two babies, and was praying and believing that this would be her “rainbow baby”, which comes after the emotional storm of a loss. Given our own family’s story, I felt privileged to be asked to help them capture this moment in their lives.
I was so excited to hear from her again many weeks later, that they were ready and feeling great for their shoot! Just entering the second trimester, they’d done genetic screening that showed a healthy baby. Praise Jesus!! The joy and love shared between this couple was palpable, as was their confidence that God is in control and has good things planned for them. I’m grateful that baby-loss families can rely on an infinitely loving God to carry them though both the pain and joy in this life. And with a healthy baby on the way, there is so much reason for celebration!!
A dear old friend recently contacted me about a session for her family. Our friendship actually goes back to 5th grade, many girl scout camping trips, marching band, and even freshman year of college (we were roommates)! It was wonderful to meet her sweet family and hard to imagine how much life has passed since we last saw each other! Here are some favorites from our shoot.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing one of Austin’s newest little humans, baby Lucas! His brother was clearly very excited about the new arrival, although their dog Bella was still undecided (but she did grace us with a quick appearance for the camera). Here are a few highlights from our shoot, which included the beautiful rainbow blanket that Grandma knitted for big brother and the book “Dragons Love Tacos” (that title just cracks me up). I always like to include items that are special to the family as it helps tell the story of this special time in their lives.
